On a panel discussing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s interview with NPR host Mary Louise Kelly, the two CNN panelists and host Don Lemon spent a lengthy amount of time making fun President Donald Trump and those who support him.
They painted Trump supporters as uneducated people who no understanding of geography. Former GOP Strategist Rick Wilson got the laughter started when he said:
“[Pompeo] also knows deep within his heart that Donald Trump couldn’t find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter U and a picture of an actual physical crane next to it. He knows that this is, you know, an administration defined by ignorance of the world. And so that’s partly him playing to the base and playing to their audience. You know, the credulous boomer rube demo that backs Donald Trump.”
After Lemon burst into crying laughter, the other panelist CNN contributor Wajahat Ali piled on say, “You elitists with your geography and your maps and your spelling!”
The charade continued this way for a bit longer, as the the group continued to make mocking comments. The video has since made the rounds online, with many people noting that it exemplifies the snobbery so often seen from the media elite.
