Digital Media Director

About the Role

The Digital Media Director will be a key part of The Steamboat Institute’s communications team. The ideal candidate will have five years of experience in digital media management or a related field. This person takes pride in their work, is resourceful and organized, and enjoys diving into digital content. Having an entrepreneurial spirit will be the driving force needed to manage their own digital media strategy. They will work to advance the digital communications and promotional efforts of the organization via web, email, and social media platforms. This individual will also have the opportunity of overseeing the production of SI’s established podcast – Liberty Chats. This is a full-time virtual position. 


  • Post daily to Facebook and Twitter
  • Regularly promote Tony Blankley Fellows and their work
  • Schedule bi-weekly email updates of Tony Blankley Fellows work
  • Promote events online
  • Manage Facebook ad responsibilities
  • Help to promote & live-tweet events (including Freedom Conference and Campus Liberty Tour debates)
  • Create blog posts, as needed, to Steamboat Institute website
    • Blog posts would often center on work from Fellows, members of Emerging Leaders Council, or friends of Steamboat Institute (former speakers, debate guests, supporters, and others).
  • Develop at least 3-4 Instagram and LinkedIn posts per week, with new integration of Instagram stories
  • Produce and oversee “Liberty Chats” podcast (15-minute bi-weekly production of SI’s Emerging Leaders Council) 
  • Set up regular Facebook ads with new content leading back to SI’s website
  • Conduct monthly or bi-monthly Facebook Live interviews with Alumni, Fellows, or ELC members
  • Maintain website and updates, as needed
  • Create all Constant Contact emails and maintain email lists
  • Create simple graphics using Canva
  • Make simple edits to videos using iMovie
  • Participate in monthly team meetings via Zoom
  • Respect and maintain the confidentiality of SI’s donors and mailing lists


  • 3-5 years of professional experience in digital media, marketing, communications, or related field; internships may be considered experience
  • Familiarity with social media strategies (including frequent postings, promoting the work of journalists and thought leaders, promoting events, managing paid promotion, analyzing results, growing followers, and related tasks)
  • Working knowledge of producing a podcast (including growing audience)
  • Strong marketing copywriting and copy-editing skills, especially for web, email and social media content
  • Ability to work on multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations and following projects through to completion
  • Mission alignment is critical; strong commitment to individual liberty and limited government is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of WordPress or other CMS is a plus
  • Experience using Constant Contact, Canva, or iMovie is a plus
